Watch for Potholes!

Finding a smooth path through a bumpy economy

This has been a bumpy year for the economy, with continuing growth in the West but some major challenges to overcome.  Albertans have demonstrated great resiliency in bouncing back from major disasters, but how do we channel this to ensure we are prepared for the next "bumps" in the road?  At this session we will provide insight into the current factors affecting your Human Capital strategies.  This will enable you to:

  • Understand the impact of the latest economic and compensation trends for the Alberta and Canadian marketplace from the Canadian Compensation Surveys.
  • Learn about the latest strategies to retain critical talent with the impending labour shortages.
  • Identify emerging issues and their potential impact on your 2014 plans.

Prepare to be Prepared

Are you equipped with the right HR Infrastructure to move forward?

The use of HR Analytics is becoming increasingly popular - but what do you do with the results?  In this session we will provide an overview of a streamlined process that you can use to understand key HR metrics associated with assessing and increasing Human Capital productivity and engagement.  This will include:

  • Diagnose your organization's preparedness to deal with the current dynamic environment.
  • Determine factors that will drive growth, performance, and retention in your organization.
  • Identify processes and tools to produce strategies that can improve your organization’s Return on Investment (ROI) on Human Capital.
  • Case examples will be presented.

Human Capital Metrics:
The Impact of HR Programs on Business Results

Workshop Presented by Gail Evans, The Wynford Group

Gail will share the results of the groundbreaking Wynford Group Human Capital Metrics study of over 40 major Canadian organizations. The Causal Model developed from this study is a predictive tool that identifies the effectiveness and Return on Investment (ROI) of various HR programs to guide future HR investment to maximize the strategic impact in your organization.

This study can be used to support HR initiatives within your organizations using the quantitative results that will get attention at the Executive table. With the increased pressure on organizational performance and focus on supporting core business drivers and results, Human Capital Metrics and the Causal Model in particular, can be used to identify areas of opportunity for increased value creation by employing Human Capital more effectively. The results of this unique Canadian study have already been used successfully to gain support for HR initiatives at major Canadian companies. Finally, a scientifically based process for illustrating the value added by Human Resources programs and functions.

In addition to explaining the recent study results and the implications for organizations right now, Gail Evans will provide some case study examples of how this can be applied as well as providing the opportunity for interactive discussion within groups.
